Dentist Office Now Open

We're jazzing up our little critters in the Calico Critters department. Lots of new sets are arriving, and we decided to have some fun and put one together. This is the dentist office that Gayla built for us.

Reading Trails

This week it rained on my day off. I'm told by my friends from the Pacific Northwest that complaining about two rainy days in a row is pathetic, and it is, but still, I was ready to go outside and play! Instead I spent some time exploring the internet. One of my favorite sites pixie stix kids has led me to a very fun site called Reading Trails. Reading Trails lets you connect books, and find books by following connections. It's just starting to build, but if it takes off, it could be a great resource for finding a book you didn't know you couldn't live without.

Cat in the Hat goes visiting

Our Cat was let out of its box this last week to visit local schools. It was Read Across America day (aka:Dr. Suess's Birthday) and we held a drawing for local schools to win a visit from the Cat. One of our longtime customers, Cathy Griggs, was second place winner, and she sent us a picture of the Cat visiting her school. This drawing was such a hit with teachers that we will hold it again next year! Watch for more pictures of the Cat's visit as they arrive!

Don't Worry

We received some new books today - and they fit right in with our last post! This charming series of three books - Don't Worry Bear, Good Luck Bear, and Thank You Bear are by Greg Foley. These sweet, simple books will give young readers a new perspective on their troubles, and have a wonderful calming atmosphere - far better than breathing into a paper bag!

Where are We Going?

Today I heard that Mr. Mopps in Berkeley is for sale and may be closing. This is a toy store that has been around for decades. It's enough to make you spend half the day breathing into a paper bag!
